Flutamide USP (pharma grade) CAS:13311-84-7
Flutamide USP tablets are prescribed by urologists and oncologists to treat prostate cancer. They are usually taken as part of a maximum androgen blockade therapy along with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist or after surgery to remove the testes. The standard dose is 250 mg taken three times a day with meals for a total daily dose of 750 mg. When taken regularly as directed, Flutamide USP tablets help reduce levels of androgens in the body as well as disrupt the activity of androgens on prostate cancer cells. Common side effects may include hot flashes, erectile dysfunction, loss of sex drive, and diarrhea or nausea which are usually mild. Flutamide USP treatment should be continued as long as it controls the prostate cancer as determined by follow up PSA tests and exams by the treating physician. It is important for patients not to skip or stop taking Flutamide USP without discussing with their doctor as this can allow prostate cancer to grow back.
