Ornipressin CAS:3397-23-7
Ornipressin is primarily used to treat acute gastrointestinal bleeding and gastroesophageal variceal bleeding, reduces bleeding by constricting blood vessels, and is able to increase coronary circulation and improve blood supply to the heart muscle. It acts as a vasoconstrictor by stimulating V1 receptors on blood vessels, causing smooth muscle to contract, thereby reducing blood flow, especially in the venous system. This effect helps to reduce blood flow to the gastrointestinal mucosa, thereby reducing the amount of bleeding and blood loss. Although Ornipressin is widely used and effective in gastrointestinal bleeding, its use requires careful dosing adjustment and close monitoring to avoid adverse effects, such as myocardial ischemia or hypertension. In addition, Ornipressin is being studied for the treatment of other pathologic bleeding conditions, such as uterine bleeding after gynecological surgery or other conditions where bleeding is difficult to control. The doctor will decide whether to use Ornipressin on a case-by-case basis, as well as how to adjust the dose and monitor the patient's response to ensure safety and effectiveness.
